The mega retailer offers several ways to shop for them: By height from under four feet to over eight feet, by price from under $25 to $150, by décor type and by branch type from pre-lit to flocked with artificial snow.


In Target's dedicated Christmas tree section, you have the option of browsing through ornaments, tree skirts and stands, lights, toppers and more. The myriad of options make Target a great first stop in turning your living room into a veritable winter wonderland.


For $79 and $99 respectively, you can add tree assembly and haul-away service to your order. Note that third-party sellers may have different shipping and return policies than Walmart, so do a quick background check before you add to cart.


When in doubt, trust the country's largest home improvement store to, well, improve your artificial Christmas tree shopping experience. The retailer allows you to sort through its 4,800 options by shape, height, price, light functions like twinkling and pulsing, light type like LED or low-voltage, color family, tree species and more.

Not interested or able to strap a tree to the roof of your car? No problem. This Union Square market, open through Dec. 24, will deliver a tree to your door. Its trees, which stand up to 12 feet tall, range in price from $39.98 to $159, and cost $20 to $25 for local delivery. Whether you want to cut your own Christmas tree, pick a live one for someone else to cut or buy a pre-cut tree to proudly display in your home, consider this list your guide to Greater Cincinnati Christmas tree farms so you can score your very own fir or pine.


Cut your own tree and enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere with live music, hot cocoa and a free petting zoo. The season begins Nov. 25, and all trees up to 10 feet are $82. The farm no longer carries balled and burlapped trees.


Open for Christmas tree sales Nov. 25-27. If there are leftover trees, the farm will also be open Dec. 3. All cut-your-own trees are 4-8 feet tall, $45 and include concolor, canaan fir, scotch and white pine and Norway spruce varieties. Pre-cut trees are $50 and up and include fraser fir Christmas trees from 6-13 feet.


If going to pick out a Christmas tree is less of a beloved family tradition and more of a stressful to-do list item, there are alternatives that are just as festive. Many stores are selling real Christmas trees that you buy online and pick up or have delivered to your home.


The earlier you order your tree, the better. Check the retailer's shipping information to find out the last day for delivery by Christmas. Additionally, though the price of the trees may qualify you for free shipping, there is often a weight restriction that means you'll have to pay extra for shipping.


If you're looking to keep the holiday festivities low-fuss, artificial trees have become so convincing that their beauty matches their convenience. You can choose between 3- to 4- through 8- to 9-foot trees, or this 2- to 3-foot potted tabletop one. They'll be shipped to your doorstep within 48 hours of being harvested, and you can choose from four delivery windows. Note that there's a delivery surcharge between $15 and $50 depending on the size you select.


The magical winter village, Snowport is complete with a tree market. All trees are cut and ready to take away so there is no heavy lifting, unless you want to haul the tree on foot from the market to your apartment! Find the tree market adjacent to the winter village.


Located in Canton, MA, Pakeen Farm offers a wide variety of trees including Balsam, Concolor and Fraser Firs, as well as Blue and Norway Spruces. Grab a hot cocoa and wander through the farm to find the perfect tree. The farm also has handcrafted wreaths and garlands to help make your holiday décor extra luscious.


Another Ramona-based Christmas tree farm, this spot has been doling out Christmas trees for the past ten years. In addition to Grand, Doublas, Nobels, and Frazier firs that are trucked down from Oregon, you can cut your own Monterey Pine Christmas tree on the farm. They provide handsaws but you can also call in an expert to help or cut it down for you. If you like the idea of a potted Christmas tree (you can plant it after the holidays if you'd like), they have Monterey, Aleppo and Deodar Cedar varieties. Netting is available for $2.


5. Mr. Jingle's Christmas TreesMr. Jingle's Christmas Trees is a pop-up tree lot as opposed to a farm, but if you're not up for chopping down your tree this year, this is a great place to pick out a fresh Christmas tree closer to home. With three locations in San Diego: Clairemont/Pacific Beach, Balboa Park, and La Jolla, there are plenty of options to pick up your Christmas tree nearby. Mr. Jingle's offers Douglas, Nordmann, and Noble firs in a wide variety of sizes (from 2-to-17-feet), as well as wreaths, garland and decorating accessories. They also offer online ordering and tree delivery or pick-up.


1. Leave the compact car at home and instead bring the family truck or SUV to accommodate your freshly chopped tree. Bring a tarp, old sheet or blanket to put in the trunk to catch the needles and sap. You can also put the sheet to use on the roof of your car if you are going to tie it down.


Good to Know: The annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program begins the day after Christmas, Dec. 26, through Jan. 23, and features 17 drop-off locations available to San Diego city residents.
